Coinside * Malleus Maleficarum (mcd 2001 ars electrique)

I know Coinside for the most brilliant soft militant industrial track with singing that opens the “Neue Welten” compilation 10″ (see elsewhere). It seems that this project of Sven Bussler (Wappenbund, Greyland Records, etc., etc.) has existed for a while, since there are quite some releases of this project. Maybe Coinside preseeds Wappenbund. Anyway, this mcd opens with a very nice industrial track, but continues with downright electro. In Wappenbund I already hear some electro-influences (vocals, rhythms, sounds), but this mcd makes it clear: mr Bussler has an electro background. Nothing wrong with that of course, but I happen to dislike 99% of all electro. Coinside is not really an exception. The sound may roughly be compared to the older Terminal Choice, but not as good, but there are some nice influences and the sound is quite dark here and there which is a good thing. You mostly get the usual rhythms, some melody and Rammstein-like vocals by Torsten Bessert. Tracks 2, 3 and 5 are electro tracks (the last one is a Leather Strip cover), 4 is more industrial. Not too great, not too bad. I have heard better but also worse electro cds. <29/5/02><2>
