Tenhi * Kauan (cd 1999 prophecy productions)

I knew Tenhi of the “Lichttauffe” compilation to which they contributed a not too good track. I’m glad that I still ordered their cd, because “Kauan” is actually really nice. Very tranquil neo-folk with a drumkit and some electronic instruments to accompany the usual acoustic guitar, flutes and violins. This makes this cd quite accessible and slightly experimental. The vocals are typically Scandinavian. “Viking”-like singing and a choir here and there, but the vocals are mostly very modest.
The lyrics are printed both in Norse (I think) and English and the booklet also contains great pictures of the beautiful Scandinavian landscape.
A very nice piece of Scandinavian neo-folk, that mostly differs from German or English neo-folk because of it’s melancholy.
