Ellison Oswalt is a writer of factual horror stories and he moves to a house where a gruesome murder took place. On the attic he stumbles upon leads better than he could have hoped, but also evidence of other, similar murders. After this unfolds a not too strong story of the haunted house with a rather thin conclusion. “Sinister” does live up to the title though. I do not see a whole lot of horror films, but “Sinister” is nicely sinister. The atmosphere is wonderfully horrorish, but unfortunately when the story comes in, the atmosphere gets lost and the last part is somewhat weak. Overall a moody horror film for people who like the genre.
