In the year 2000 there is a race with which the president of the United States wants to show the inhabitents of his country how free they are. A transcontinental race in which the participants get points for killing people. “Death Race 2000” is 35 years old and looks slightly cheesy. For the time I suppose the film was quite violent and it contains some nudity as well. Looking back from well past the year 2000, this film may contain some amusing scenes, but I cannot regard it as a classic must-see. The criticism to American society is still valid, but even in 1975 the film could have been worked out a little better.
