It has been quite a few years since I was looking for electropunk type music and on a peer-to-peer network found a folder (playlist) called “A Modern Mutants Handbook”. It contained electropunk, but also weird and chaotic guitar music. Later I learned that this “noiserock” has a base in the short lived Nowave scene from the 1970’ies New York. Actually a lot of music has a base in this scene and thus in my playlist you find no only Sonic Youth, but also Swans and Foetus. The cover of the playlist is of a documentary made about the scene.
